Presentation Details:
Mastering business analysis versatility is about making thoughtful adjustments to our business analysis work based on a variety of different views, perspectives, industries, initiative types, etc.  But most importantly, it is about selecting the right approach and adjusting the approach based on risks.  In this presentation you will gain a better understanding of how the business analyst must take on a larger role in identifying and responding to risks associated with the business analysis work being conducted and with the requirements elicited.  These risks may require modifications to either the business analysis approach or, with project manager collaboration, the overall project approach.
At the conclusion of this presentation, you should be able to:

  • Identify risks within the realm of the business analyst role
  • Distinguish the difference between various business analysis risks
  • Make the connection between requirement attributes and risks
  • Determine how risks are handled differently by life-cycle approach
  • Associate certain risks to different types of initiatives (e.g. vendor package implementations)
  • Assess how feasible a requirement may be based on different types of trade-offs and tolerances
  • Improve risk communication and collaboration with project managers

Key Topics Include:

  1. Seven Steps to Mastering Business Analysis Versatility
  2. Quick Risk Overview
  3. Business Analyst’s View of Risk Categories
  4. Life-Cycle Approaches and Risks
  5. Risks by Initiative Type: Vendor Package, Process-Driven, Data-Driven, Enterprise-wide, and Technology-Driven
