Too many Product Backlogs have become giant task lists—packed with activities, assignments, technical steps, and things for people to do. But tasks don’t belong in a Product Backlog.
When tasks dominate the backlog, teams lose sight of the problems they’re solving and the outcomes they’re trying to achieve. The backlog gets bigger, prioritization becomes an exercise in shuffling work, and Product Owners become work coordinators instead of product decision-makers.
